Waaaahhh!!

January 11, 2007

Was knitting in my classroon yesterday during lunch. Bell rang much too quickly so stopped in the middle of a row. Wouldn’t ya know I forgot which row I was on when I got home and picked up on the next row?? Arggghhhh!! With 204 stitches & cables, too difficult to rip back just part way so ripped back to row 5. Will pay closer attention as I *have* to get done by Friday to get my cotton yarn this Sat. to start on my Pirates hat Sun. Whew!…I think I can do it…just need to get to row 42 and it’s all over….

Let’s get this thing started…

Signed up for the WE CALL THEM PIRATES Knitalong….going to knit the hat. Husband sails on Sundays during frostbite season and asked for a watchcap. Showed him the pic of the pirate hat and…he loves it!! Finishing up the Aran Tam from Cast On magazine Holiday 2000 first and then will get started. Have become a one-project knitter and am scheduled to finish the tam by Fri. Yes, I do schedule my knitting on the calendar so I can stay on task. Can’t start another project until one is finished.

Here’s a pic of the tam; top done, working on bottom ribbed band. Weird looking in pic as I put a sock under the hat to hold it up so the cables showed a bit more.

After years of knitting, cleared out my stash about a year ago and got heavily into quilting over the summer when I have off as a high school computer technology teacher. Now, my knitting mojo is back so it looks like 1/2 yr. of knitting, the other 1/2 quilting. No stash except for 2 upcoming projects. Using up some Heilo for the pirate cap. Need to pick up some cotton yarn for the liner this wknd.

My fav holiday/season is Halloween and I go all out decorating my rowhouse in DC. Have a soft spot for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead/All Saints Day) and recently quilted a table runner for a Christmas gift for sister-in-law & her husband and had a shirt made w/the same fabric for him as a birthday gift 12/26. So…this knitalong is just perfect for my passion of all things skull-related. Unfortunately, I don’t save any photos (not a memory-saving person!) but here’s a pic of one of the fabrics I used:
